Why Dublin is Ideal for Women Experiencing Perimenopause
If you’re navigating the challenging waters of perimenopause, finding a getaway that caters to your needs can be a game-changer. Whether it's the soothing atmosphere, nurturing services, or supportive communities, Dublin, Ireland, stands out as an excellent destination. Known for its warm hospitality, this vibrant city has enhanced its appeal with numerous wellness options perfect for women looking for comfort and relaxation. From cozy accommodations to rejuvenating spa experiences, Dublin offers everything you need for a refreshing weekend away.
Spa Haven: Embrace Wellness in Dublin
One of Dublin's most significant draws for women in perimenopause is its burgeoning spa scene. Ireland’s first spa certified as menopause champions makes it a prime spot for restorative treatments tailored specifically for your needs. Picture this: you arrive in Dublin, and you’re enveloped in an atmosphere of tranquility, where expert therapists guide you through soothing therapies designed to alleviate those pesky symptoms of perimenopause. The combination of qualified professionals and a serene environment allows you to truly unwind and recharge.
We stopped by The Spa at The Shelbourne to try out their "Comfort & Calm" treatment, a new offering in partnership with Irish wellness brand Ground Wellbeing. It’s specially designed to relax, soothe, and support the nervous system during perimenopause and menopause — and honestly, it really lived up to its name. The spa is super easy to find, right by St Stephen's Green just off Grafton Street. For the visit, we packed light and wore this super comfy one-piece outfit — perfect for slipping off before the treatment and best of all, it didn’t crease!
Explore the Menopause Hub and Beyond
Dublin's commitment to women’s health is evident with the recent expansion of the country’s first menopause clinic. The Menopause Hub, now with a second location due to overwhelming demand, has become a beacon of hope for women seeking guidance and support. The Hub, which has gained traction since opening in Mount Merrion in 2019, has captivated visitors eager to learn more about managing perimenopause. Beyond healthcare, Dublin also boasts a rich cultural heritage, with historical sites, charming cafes, and friendly locals ready to welcome you at every corner. So, after a restorative morning at a spa, don’t miss out on the chance to wander through the city’s streets, savour its culinary delights, and immerse yourself in Dublin's vibrant atmosphere.
Plan Your Perfect Weekend
When planning your Dublin escape, look for accommodations that prioritise comfort and relaxation. Many hotels and B&Bs provide special amenities catered to women navigating this life stage, ensuring your stay is as stress-free as possible. With convenient transport options throughout the city and numerous wellness-focused activities, getting around Dublin is a breeze. Whether it's indulging in self-care or exploring loved cultural landmarks, you'll find the ideal balance for a blissful retreat.
We stayed at The Samuel, which was in a great location — really close to EPIC, and just a short walk across the bridge to Pearse Street Station where you can hop on the DART and enjoy a scenic ride along the coast. Since we knew we’d be walking a lot, we tested out these shoes and they were amazing for all the pavement-pounding! We also packed these tops and trousers — super comfy for daytime exploring but easy to dress up for evenings out.
We flew with a low-cost airline (you know how tight their baggage rules can be), so this rucksack ended up being the perfect fit for everything we needed. And because Irish weather likes to keep you guessing, we brought these raincoats — which definitely came in handy when we visited the beautiful Sugarloaf Mountain in Wicklow.
In summary, if you are looking for the perfect weekend destination while managing your perimenopause symptoms, look no further than Dublin. With its welcoming atmosphere, outstanding spas, and specialised medical options, it’s a city that embraces women’s wellness, allowing you to rejuvenate and recharge. Book your trip today and experience all that this charming Irish city has to offer!
