Why Strawberries Are a Superfood for Menopause

Strawberries are not just a delicious treat—they’re a flirty fruit that makes Valentine’s Day extra special. During menopause, they also become a superfood you shouldn’t overlook. These vibrant berries are packed with vitamin C, which supports immune function and collagen production to help keep your skin radiant. If you’ve noticed changes in your skin during menopause, adding strawberries to your diet can be a tasty, playful way to boost your glow—and maybe even add a little romance to the day.

Flirty, Fruity & Fabulous: Strawberry & Dark Chocolate Avocado Tart

The ultimate indulgence for Valentine’s Day—creamy, decadent, and bursting with strawberry flavour.

  • You’ll Need

    • Mixing bowl

    • Tart tin (23 cm)

    • Electric mixer (optional)

    • Spatula

    • Measuring cups and spoons

    • Grater for zesting

    Ingredients

    • 200g digestive biscuits

    • 100g unsalted butter, melted

    • 200g dark chocolate (70% cocoa), chopped

    • 200ml double cream

    • 1 ripe avocado (about 150g), peeled and mashed

    • 150g fresh strawberries, hulled and halved

    • 25–30g freeze-dried strawberries, crushed slightly

    • Zest of one orange

    • Chopped nuts (pistachios or walnuts, for topping)

    Method

    1. Prepare the crust:
Preheat your oven to 180°C. Crush the digestive biscuits until fine, mix with melted butter, and press into your tart tin. Bake for 10 minutes, then leave to cool.

    2. Make the filling:
Heat the cream until just boiling, remove from heat, and stir in the chopped dark chocolate until smooth. Fold in the mashed avocado, then gently mix in the crushed freeze-dried strawberries for extra bursts of flavour and texture.

    3. Assemble & serve:
Pour the chocolate-avocado mixture over the cooled base. Chill for 1–2 hours until set. Arrange fresh halved strawberries on top, sprinkle with orange zest and chopped nuts, and serve chilled.

Tip: Perfect for a romantic evening, this tart balances indulgence with nutrition—creamy, fruity, and flirtatiously decadent.
