Brussels Ranks High for Female Solo Travel
Brussels, the beautiful capital of Belgium, has recently made waves by securing the 40th position on the new list of the 50 best cities worldwide for solo female travellers. This significant ranking is a point of pride for the city, as it stood out among 120 other cities that were also considered. According to travel specialist, Tourlane, various factors contributed to this achievement.
What Makes Brussels Stand Out?
For a city to rank well for female travellers, there are several essential criteria, including local representation in business and politics, as well as legal equality and personal safety. In Brussels, women are actively engaged in local businesses, contributing to a vibrant economy that welcomes female tourists.
Moreover, Brussels has shown commitment to equality, ensuring that women can walk its streets confidently at any hour. This welcoming atmosphere encourages solo female travellers to explore the city’s rich culture, delicious cuisine, and historical landmarks without fear.
Wellness & Culinary Delights in Brussels
Brussels isn’t just a safe city; it also offers an array of wellness-focused experiences that are perfect for solo female travellers seeking relaxation and rejuvenation. Several spas near Brussels provide yoga and wellness programs, allowing visitors to unwind after a day of exploration. With its serene ambiance, these spas become a haven for those looking to recharge.
We visited during the last week of June to enjoy the summer concerts—an easy and relaxing experience, with performances scattered throughout the parks and plenty of freedom to choose which ones to attend. It was wonderfully peaceful, and the shaded areas offered a great spot to unwind. We brought these handheld fans, as it did get a little warm beneath the trees.
It was also the perfect opportunity to indulge in some self-care at the Cinq Mondes Spa, which focuses on relaxation and well-being in a tranquil woodland setting. For a more holistic experience, we visited Evoshift, a retreat centre just outside Brussels offering yoga, Pilates, sound therapy, and spa treatments. It was especially beneficial for easing menopause-related stiffness and clearing the mental fog.
We wanted to feel confident and comfortable during our spa time, so we packed these easy-wear yoga outfits and a fabulous swimsuit that smoothed out every bump—both stylish and practical.
The food scene in Brussels was equally delightful. We loved strolling through the Sunday market at Place Jourdan, and while not essential, a cone of frites from Maison Antoine made for a fun (and tasty) treat!
If you’re a fan of plant-based cuisine, Brussels won’t disappoint. The city boasts a vibrant culinary scene that champions healthy, sustainable dining. From cosy vegan cafés to innovative restaurants serving plant-forward dishes, there’s something to delight every palate. Expect a diverse menu of flavour-packed meals that nourish the body and support a balanced lifestyle.
On another important note, women’s health continues to gain well-deserved attention. As more women explore topics like menopause and overall wellbeing, the ease of getting around becomes especially valuable. Fortunately, Brussels offers excellent public transport, including trams and buses, making it simple to navigate the city comfortably and confidently
In conclusion, Brussels is not just another city; it’s a vibrant hot spot for solo female travellers. With its impressive ranking, welcoming atmosphere, wellness offerings, and delicious food, this capital treasure is worth a visit. So pack this bag as it was a lightweight manageable dream, grab your passport, and get ready to explore all that Brussels has to offer!
